Wegner is the designer I trust when a dining chair has to work for two hours of dinner, not two minutes of photos.

Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) designed hundreds of chairs. Carl Hansen & Søn and other Danish makers still produce the authorised lines. I stay with Wishbone (CH24), the Round Chair, and the Shell Chair so the page stays useful.

How I read his style

Steam-bent wood, paper cord, and joints you can see and trust.

His chairs look light and sit solid. Oak and paper cord fit a warm room. Black lacquer copies often feel colder than they need to.

The Y-back dining chair I recommend most often for oak tables.

Carl Hansen & Søn makes the authorised CH24. Paper cord and the arm curve are where cheap replicas fail. Caption similar to on stock unless Carl Hansen is confirmed.

The Round Chair (1949)

A continuous round back that Kennedy made famous, and that joiners still copy.

Often called simply The Chair. Authorised editions exist. Stock round-back chairs are usually similar to. The product row will replace the placeholder when it is live.

Three legs and a laminated shell that still looks like a quiet sculpture.

Carl Hansen produces the authorised Shell Chair. Many laminated loungers online are distant cousins. Caption similar to.
