The modular sofa question

Modular sofas promise a layout that can change when the flat does. They also add seams, more SKUs, and a price that climbs every time you add a corner. The question is not "are modular sofas good?" It is "does this room need the flexibility enough to justify the system?"

Modules buy rearrange options and stair-friendly delivery, not automatic comfort.

If the building has a tight stair, modules can be the only way a large sofa arrives. If you move every two years, the same system can become a straight run in the next flat.

When a fixed sofa is the calmer buy

If the plan is stable and the stair allows it, a fixed sofa usually looks quieter.

Plan the walk path before the chaise

Put the chaise on the wall that does not fight the main route through the room.

Ask how the backs attach and whether seat cushions are shared across a join.

Loose backs that drift look messy fast. Some systems use a continuous bench seat; others show a clear split. Neither is wrong; only surprises are.

Ottoman as table, chaise, or leftover

Most modular sofas on the market are good contemporary systems, not design icons.

Do not caption a stock photo as a famous Italian system unless it is exact. Affordable modern modules are fine when the fabric and depth are right. Small rooms may still prefer a loveseat plus chairs.
